Mercer University Ballroom Dance Club
About Us
Mercer Ballroom Dance Club is an athletic club at Mercer University. The Club meets on Mondays at 8:00 PM and teaches different styles of ballroom dance such as the Cha-Cha, Swing, Tango, Waltz, and many more. No prior experience is needed, whether it is your first time or you are a veteran-all are welcome. The club is free and anyone is allowed to join. We regularly schedule dances at Mercer and attend local dances around Macon and Atlanta. It is a great way to meet new people, get fit, and learn a new skill. Asia Allen
President
Hello everyone!! I'm Asia Allen, a junior Psychology and Africana Studies major with a concentration in ethics. I was first introduced to ballroom dance in middle school and my love for it has only grown since! Ballroom has given me an outlet to express my passion for music and dance with others who share my love for it, and I am so grateful for the experiences our team has provided me. My favorite dances are Hustle, Bachata, and Salsa! :)
Stefan Mykytyn

Hey all! My name is Stefan Mykytyn and I am a sophomore from LA majoring in Computer Science. Formerly the ballroom Treasurer, this is my second year in ballroom, this time as the ballroom club’s Vice President. I have absolutely no dance experience outside of this club, and it has been a blast to learn so much! I’ve been a member of the competition team and have competed in several dances, including West Coast Swing, Jive, and International Rumba. West Coast Swing and Cha-cha are my favorite dances, but Bachata has a special place in my heart.

Hey everyone! My name is Lauren White, and I serve as Secretary for Mercer Ballroom! I am a sophomore majoring in Public Health. I went to the very first ballroom meeting my freshman year, and I loved it! I kept going to the meetings, and I loved learning new dances! I am also a part of the competition team, and I have enjoyed the events that we have traveled, alongside my wonderful teammates! My favorite dances (because you can’t just pick one) are Bachata, West Coast Swing and Cuban Salsa!
Sami Shadoff

Hello everybody!! I'm Sami Shadoff, a sophomore Marketing major with minors in economics and theatre. I first started ballroom dancing here at Mercer but I’ve done lots of other styles of dance before that especially while growing up doing musical theatre. Ballroom dancing has helped rekindle my love for dance and I love being able to have fun learning with the lovely people I have met through the club. I have also had the opportunity to participate in competitions which has been a blast! In spending more time with these dances I’ve found my favorite styles to be Cha-Cha and West coast swing.
